Content Description

Victoria Donohoe was a graduate of Rosemont College, Class of 1950. She received a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and studied abroad in Italy. She also received her teaching certificate and taught art classes at Rosemont while studying for her Master's. Victoria's career as an advocate for the arts spanned her lifetime. Professionally as an art critic for 53 years, Victoria wrote news columns in the Catholic Standard and Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer. We hold a relatively complete collection of all her newspaper articles and drafts. She was also an avid correspondent. Throughout her life she corresponded with artists, clergy, and family. Through her news articles and correspondences, she advocated for local artists and the Catholic Church.

The Donohoe collection also holds: - family/genealogy records and pictures, - Victoria's early art pieces - drawings and paintings - a variety of local history items for her Pennsylvania birthplace - Narberth and Montgomery County in general.

The Donohoe Collection is rich in information on local art and art history, the Catholic Church, and on the life of Victoria Donohoe.
